Are you self- sabotaging?

Good day my Homies 🙂

An excerpt for Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert:

“The Yogic sages say that all the pain of a human life is caused by words, as is all the joy. We create words to define our experience and those words bring attendant emotions that jerk us around like dogs on a leash. We get seduced by our own mantras (I’m a failure… I’m lonely… I’m a failure… I’m lonely…) and we become monuments to them.”

In the book The 4 Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, he speaks about the concept of the word “sin.” According to Ruiz, the true meaning of this word is to “go against yourself.” Every time you put yourself down, or compromise your true feelings, you are sinning. And in essence, you are contracting rather than expanding because you place yourself in a place of fear- in a prison.

“You can measure the impeccability of your word by your level of self-love. How much you love yourself and how you feel about yourself are directly proportionate to the quality and integrity of your word. When you are impeccable with your word, you feel good; you feel happy and at peace. You can transcend the dream of hell just by making the agreement to be impeccable with your word. Right now I am planting that seed in your mind. Whether or not the seed grows depends upon how fertile your mind is for the seeds of love. It is up to you to make this agreement with yourself: it will generate more seeds of love to replace the seeds of fear. Don Miguel Ruiz.

We all want peace. And we all want to manifest our deepest burning desires. However, most times, we ourselves are our biggest block. Until we learn to remove this BUG by being kind and accepting of ourselves, we cannot expand ourselves into the best versions of ourselves.

So how do we do that?

Tips:

#1 ACKNOWLEDGE:

Meditate on “Doubt”- grow your “doubt awareness”. During the course of the day, watch your inner conversation and outer conversations with others. Be the observer of what you say about yourself. What do you BEAT YOURSELF ABOUT? Is it loving or is it mean? And how does it feel?

Write down all the things you say to yourself and read them. How does this make you feel? I’m guessing- NOT good.

#2 Forgive yourself:

Now this is important. Do not become angry at yourself for being mean to you. Simply forgive. This dissolves the negativity. Anger only nurtures the negativity in your mind. Try this exercise in the mirror (taken from Belief Repatterning by Suze Casey):

#3: Re-pattern your thoughts:

I forgive myself for believing that old hurtful thoughts define who I am.

BREATHE THAT IN

I recognize that those old thoughts have held me back and kept me stuck; I give myself permission to move forward.

BREATHE THAT IN

I can hang on to those old thoughts or I can learn from them; I choose to learn what I can from them and let the rest go.

BREATHE THAT IN

I am free to learn to define myself in ways that are supportive.

BREATHE THAT IN

I know how to support others in their learning. I helped (insert name of a person) learn how to (insert)

BREATHE THAT IN

I am supportive of others, like (insert name)

BREATHE THAT IN

I give myself the same support that I gave (insert name)when he she was learning to (insert). I AM support.

BREATHE THAT IN

This form of re- patterning shifts your vibration into a place where you can begin to be your own best friend. By acknowledging the strength you have to support others, you can begin to do that for yourself!

When you become good at this, you create a barrier of love around yourself and criticism/negativity from others bears less power. Because you no longer believe negative things about yourself, you can now expand and be the amazing powerful being you were sent here to be.

#3: Who are you really?

Write all amazing qualities you posses and even if you are not there yet- the qualities you want to possess (example- confidence). Write this entry in the PRESENT TENSE. You’re already there- creating the finest version of yourself (so far!). And imagine where you can expand to next! It is INFINITE!!!

Books I recommend on this topic:

The Four Agreements By Don Miguel Ruiz

Belief Repatterning By Suze Casey

**Remember, reading without implementation means NOTHING. If you are merely intellectualizing the concepts without putting them into practice, there will be no shift. So jump in and start living your impeccability- the water is fine!!

Let’s talk about love: How a brown dog changed my life.

Standard

September 2009- it was evening and I was sitting in the living room with my brother. He hung up the phone, turned to me and said, “puppy is coming.” A friend of his had to give up a puppy she recently adopted and decided to give him to my family. I didn’t know it yet, but this brown puppy was about to shake things up.

we named him Loki (meaning god of mischief)

IMG_8267

Half jack- russell terrier and half pit-bull, Loki is hyper, playful, independent and mischievous.

I write about Loki, because he is the brown dog that changed my life. Before Loki, I had no idea the beneficial impact animals have on us human beings. After living with Loki, my heart has expanded 100 times over. Ponder the image of the Grinch who stole Christmas- whose heart grew 3x after he was kind to others. That’s kind of like what Loki has caused in me and what he continues to do for me. I continue to discover a depth of love within myself I have no idea was ever there. A new dimension of the self that takes me by surprise all the time.

We have a lot to learn from animals. Their silence. An intuition they possess that humans lack. Whatever it is, I am happy they are around.

There is no end to the love that is within all of us. There are no limitations. So I encourage everyone to look forward to that whether the object of your affection is an animal, your significant other, a friend or a passion of yours. The best is yet to come… the love is infinite…

Subconscious messages

“I felt the fear but I showed up anyway”- Danielle Laporte

I recently went to a dream workshop held at the Edgar Cayce center in New York City. In this workshop we were asked to share a dream we recently had and to describe it in detail. The dream I had involved Ryan Gosling (don’t you just love it?). Although the man had the face of Ryan Gosling, the aura he possessed was that of past lovers. Dreams are weird and fascinating that way aren’t they?

So anyway, we were totally into each other. BUT- he was from another city and I knew we couldn’t really be together because of distance. Now, this is NO coincidence as I have lived this out (in 3d world) before. It was a juicy romance, but I felt caution and that was painful. At the workshop, we were asked about how we honored this dream. I expressed that the pleasant juicy feelings I felt highlighted what I want in a relationship (I am single) and the caution I felt highlighted my fear.

The point I am trying to make is that, we should honor our subconscious fears. There is wisdom in learning from our fears because it is a message to expand. Yes, it is true that I don’t want to be in a long distance relationship because it won’t allow me to engage in a relationship that can grow in a real way. Thank you subconscious fear for showing me that 😉 I honor what my subconscious is telling me because in turn, it is showing me what would make me happy.

The trick about using fear to our advantage- is to work with it! Don’t fight it. Sit with it, because it is a teacher.

What’s even more perfect, is that very night- I came across a Marie Forleo video where she interviewed Dr. Cathy Collautt (check it out on Youtube, it’s fab!) and the video totally resonated with my experience.

In a nutshell, here tips provided by Dr. Collautt I am putting to use:

  1. Get humble: again, don’t fight the fear. You don’t know everything and believe that fear is there for a reason (just don’t dwell in it!)
  2. Get specific: explore the fear. Why is it there? What potential does it have to motivate me to expand? (for me, it’s not settling for anything less than an available and present partner).
  3. Make a promise: work with your fear! (“I promise you dear subconscious that I will find you a Ryan Gosling look a like partner who lives in new york!”)- you get my drift.
  4. Find examples: look at people who have accomplished what you desire. Remind yourself over and over again of what is possible. Perhaps you have accomplished it before?
  5. Solidify and affirm. “I will find a partner whom I am crazy about (and he about me) who lives in this city!” Now say yours!

There is no light without dark. “Aha’s” are all the sweeter after we’ve sifted through the confusion first. True transformation happens when you are courageous enough to face what makes you feel uncomfortable.

I leave you with this quote from my Greek peeps:

“Kidea xoris gelio kai gamos xoris Klama den Ginonde”

Translation: “A funeral without laughter and a wedding without tears is impossible.”

Pretty powerful quote I think 😉

Wealth

Standard

“Give me 6 hours to chop down a tree and I will spend 4 hours sharpening the axe” – Lincoln

“You often say, I would give, but only to the deserving. The trees in your orchard say not so, nor the flocks in your pasture.  They give that they may live, for to withhold is to perish.  For in truth it is life that gives unto life – while you, who deem yourself a giver, are but a witness” – Gibran

What is wealth?

I’m currently in the middle of reading two different books. The first of which- many have heard of: Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and A Bug Free Mind by Andy Shaw. What is so great about them is that they motivate you to think about your talents and what you have to offer to the world and that wealth or abundance of money is not attained if you are not willing to give of yourself.

It’s a universal desire for us all to have an abundance of money, (and what we are really speaking of here is FREEDOM) a loving partner with whom to share our lives with and fulfilling relationships with friends and family. RIGHT? RIGHT!

Often times however, when we come to the realization of one or all of these desires, our automatic impulse is to think of what can WE GET OUT OF the desire. When really (and according to Hill and Shaw) the approach to acquiring these desires should be taken quite differently.

If it is monetary wealth you are after, you could ask yourself, “What is my true authentic talent?  What was I BORN to do? What makes me feel good when I’m doing it? When do I feel inspired? What is a common theme in my life that keeps coming up over and over again?” For example  maybe it’s painting.  The fact is, this “theme” continues to creep up on you because it’s  sending you a message! Listen to that message. You can make a dignified and sustainable living doing what you LOVE. But you need to believe that first, of course! If you can open yourself up that possibility, you’ve taken the first step. How does that FEEL? I’m guessing, pretty awesome!

The same applies  with the fulfilling relationships we seek. We all know that relationships are a two- way street. So when we are yearning for that romantic partner (or we’ve already got one in view) we must ask ourselves: What do I bring to this relationship? Do I bring honesty, willingness to express myself, support, etc? It’s very easy for us to make a list of all the things we want, but are we prepared to offer that as well?

This is what it means to be responsible. And to be responsible is to be truly free!

If you are seeking your purposeful vocation in life, I would also recommend abundantyogi.com by Kris Ward. She is great in helping people dig into themselves so that they may discover their true gifts and creating a practical plan of action!

So Called Beliefs

Standard

Ever notice that moment (or moments) in a conversation when opinions are being thrown around and you all of a sudden get than PANG feeling- that moment when someone threatens your belief?

Happens all the time. Happened to me yesterday. An individual asked me what was new in my life and I expressed to this person about the direction I am headed in- that I would like to help people from a spiritual lens. That person responded by saying- “oh though spiritism? I would never go down that path. It goes against my religion” in a negative undertone. I didn’t know what the word spiritism meant exactly- but the tone said it all and I felt that PANG- I (or rather, my ego) felt insulted and threatened. I felt my ego rise like a fire. (And by the way- spiritism from the Christians’ perspective means connection to the spirits- both angelic and demonic- I looked it up). For me at least, there is nothing demonic about what I would like to do. However, an assumption was made. A question was not.

I am coming to the heartfelt understanding that it doesn’t matter what people think. Not everything that you will SAY or DO will win the approval of others. That means, you should SAY and DO whatever you like. To do otherwise is a betrayal to your soul. It is a lie.

It’s also worth noticing that we (as a mass consciousness) identify so HARD with our beliefs. The moment someone contradicts a belief we hold, we become defensive. Why is that? Well, it is because deep down- we feel the possibility that they might be right. And that shakes our whole belief system, which scares us. I did it yesterday but I caught myself. And I encourage you to carefully watch your own ego and thinking mind. The defensive feeling holds no purpose for you- as it keeps you in a place where you simply cannot grow. And rather than make an assumption, ask a question. This serves you better.

Our so called “beliefs” are not us because they CHANGE all the time. And so we should. We are meant to expand and change- absorb and release- breathe in and breathe out. Why put a limit on our beliefs? Why not be limitless?

Once we understand this in our hearts (not minds) we gain so much wealth. We become wealthy because we don’t possess a desperate dependency to get people to agree with us. We become wealthy because once we find the strength to say what is true to our souls we discover a genuine creativity which in turn leads us to produce something uniquely us. It is that unique gift inside us that the world needs.

Are you stuck?

Standard

Happy Tuesday!

So, this blog is my brand new infant baby. Although I know am meant to express love through the written word, writing content doesn’t always come so easily. In fact, I have come to learn that divine inspiration comes through when you least expect it. It just “hits” you and when it does, I push my pen into the paper and run with it.

But this morning I was feeling frustrated again. I know that helping people through a spiritual lens is my calling however, I still get stuck. Rather than become frustrated, doubtful and fearful, I did something very simple. I sat in silence and I simply asked the question “What do I do?” Divine energy- my true energy came through. Source told me to be myself. This article is the manifestation of the answer I received.

So, no matter where you find yourself- no matter what you are doing with your life- if you are trying to figure out a solution to a problem or an answer to a question skip the DRAMA, FRUSTRATION, SELF PITY AND WORRY. It does nothing for you. Sit for a couple of minutes with an open mind and heart. Your soul which is directly connected to this beautiful universe will light the way. Ask and you shall receive. You are everything you need. Come home to yourself.

For every question there is an answer. For every problem there is a solution. And you don’t have to do much at all. This also does not mean you don’t look at the problem/question. Avoidance is certainly not the order of business. Rather:

Notice

Acknowledge

Sit

Close your eyes

Ask the Question.

Exercise Patience.

Remember, the chaotic mind has no space for answers, solutions or divine inspiration to shine through.

15 year old jumped on the stage with a swirl

Talked about the void that existed inside of her

Said she’s seeking something she cannot find each day during the grind

15 year old girlie kept on telling her story

Expressed that in fact she doesn’t know what it is that makes her worry

About what she seeks but cannot find

She wants it so bad and doesn’t know why

O girl, get our of yourself so you can fly

Fly fly and get away from your body and thinking mind

So you can discover what really counts

Get off your mount

Come down and see

A whole wide world full of people who don’t amount

Yet

To you

But it’s true

True that they do

Because they are you

And really I am speaking to me

I’m beginning to see that there’s a way to be free

And it doesn’t occur when I’m enveloped in thoughts, sadness, inferiority or superiority

I have to let go of this stress

Equalize my heart with others and then I can rest

What is the size of your faith?

“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step-” Martin Luther King Jr.

Did u know that we as human beings can have whatever we want? We can overcome disease in body and mind. Yes it’s true don’t let anyone tell you different. Empirical support exists. In many books. Lots of diverse material out there all saying the same thing and I would be happy to provide a list to all who ask.
All I ask you is to have an open mind to this- consider it- if only for a moment. I guarantee at least one part of this concept has or will resonate with your soul as we are all one – sharing the truth of love and you cannot deny that from the bottom of your heart. There is no disconnection whatsoever. If u believe so, it is a lie. If u give to another u will feel love. Do not be scarce with your heart. Be generous. Allow inspiration to flow through you and do not forget you are a beautiful instrument with your own beautiful evolving gifts so give purpose to those gifts.  Allow yourself to feel, own and give back to the world. Like the cycle of our earth and water, energy is a continuous life giving moving force.
I write spontaneously because I see many dimensions in my heart that what’s written above happens to be our true nature. As a mass consciousness, we have many steps to take towards enlightenment but once you’ve seen a glimpse of this truth, you cannot turn back. All I ask of you, is to take the first step- take the first step in faith. Give your attention to one beautiful aspect inside of you and one aspect outside of you. Recognize the power in simple recognition. Grow in this faith.
